Enhancing SDN Infrastructure Management through Ubiquitous Orchestration Capabilities

Concluído

The Software-Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm was designed to massively change the way that computer networks are managed, enabling more flexible management of infrastructures. The lack of control systems that can support administrators when faced with the increasing complexity of the network makes the management of SDN infrastructures extremely challenging, especially concerning the integration of different mechanisms (to provide Quality of Service, Mobility, Security, etc.). In this scenario, SDN controllers are expected to provide an efficient network infrastructure management to increase the ubiquity of the control plane. In light of this, this project proposes the development of the Network Orchestration Agent (NOA), a middleware for the OpenDaylight, currently the most significant instance among the SDN controllers, that can provide a set of functionalities to improve the amount of information made available to the applications, reducing overhead and complexity, meanwhile employing dynamically defined filtering rules for services orchestration.
